The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life

by Mark Manson

4/5
Harper 224 pages September 13, 2016

Mark Manson delivers a brutally honest self-help book that argues we should stop trying to be positive all the time and instead learn to be comfortable with being different. The key is choosing what to care about — and being okay with the struggle that comes with it.

Jim's Review

🐛
Jim normally gives many f*cks — about books, about burrowing, about proper soil moisture. But Manson makes a compelling case for being more selective with your f*cks. It's refreshingly blunt compared to the usual "think positive!" self-help drivel. The philosophy is solid even if the edgy tone wears thin by the end. Four worms for this anti-self-help self-help book. Now if you'll excuse me, Jim has some not-caring to do.
