Jim is a ground-dwelling creature by nature, so reading about people voluntarily climbing into the death zone was absolutely gripping and baffling in equal measure. Krakauer's account is raw, honest, and terrifying — you feel the altitude sickness, the blinding whiteouts, and the impossible decisions. It's the kind of book that makes you grateful for your cozy reading nook underground. Jim's segments were tense the entire time. A masterclass in adventure writing that'll leave you breathless — pun fully intended.
