In the house of Helios, god of the sun, a daughter is born — but Circe is a strange child, not powerful like her father nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers a power forbidden to the gods: witchcraft. Zeus banishes her to a deserted island, where she hones her craft and encounters legends of mythology.

Jim's Review

🐛
Madeline Miller took Greek mythology and made Jim feel things he didn't know a worm could feel. Circe is fierce, flawed, and utterly magnificent. Jim spent the whole book burrowed into his favorite blanket, transported to ancient Greece. The prose is so lush it practically glows. If you ever wanted to root for a witch turning men into pigs, this is your book — and Jim is here for it.
