Jim doesn't cry easily — worms don't have tear ducts, technically — but Morrison had this bookworm openly weeping by chapter three. The prose is so hauntingly beautiful it burrows right through your defenses. This isn't an easy read, but it's a necessary one. Morrison writes about pain and love with equal ferocity, and the result is unforgettable.
